ACWORTH WARRIORS 18U ORANGE DOMINATE FOR A COBB COUNTY INTERPARK LEAGUE THREE-PEAT!
The Acworth Warriors 18U Orange team won their third Championship in a row last night, at Acworth’s Senior Field, in a 5-4 win over Sandy Plains Rockets. Cobb County area 18U teams had to earn their way into the 2023 Cobb County Interpark League Tournament through a series of post-season pool games; which narrowed the field for Bracket play. The Warriors 18U Orange team entered into the Tournament as the #2 Seed and put up 29 runs while allowing only 7 throughout the tournament. Game 1 saw 18U Warriors Orange eliminate East Side Reds in a 10-3 victory. In Game 2, pitcher, G. Allen, pitched a No-No eliminating Kennesaw with a 9-0 win. The semifinal game ended in a 5-0 shutout eliminating #3 Seed West Cobb Royals. The Championship game pitted the Warriors against rival team, Sandy Plains Rockets. The Warriors led for 6 innings, but the Rockets lit up the top of the 7th inning, closing the gap to a 1 run game. The Warriors shutdown the Rockets’ engines in the top of the 7th with a 5-4 win, getting the last out off a swinging bunt by the Rockets; which pitcher, L. Giannasca, fielded perfectly, leaving the Rockets with bases loaded.
